What you should know about installation.

When looking around your neighborhood, you may see that there many different types of
construction. In the Tulsa area we have rock homes, brick homes, homes with vinyl siding, wood siding,
cedar trim or stucco homes. Each one of these construction styles requires that the replacement
window company determine the proper method of installation for the replacement window. Just
because someone is in the replacement window business doesn't mean they are going to take all the
steps necessary to insure proper installation.
At Windows by Jeff we don't cut corners & we want to educate you on the proper installation for your
home's construction. Don't let other contractors set your windows on the stool, stair-step trim on the
outside or apply a “trim kit” when the opening should be cutback. Let us explain the differences.
If you have old wood windows, you need to know about header expander, sill extender & whether the
replacement window should be installed from the interior or exterior. Let Windows by Jeff explain the
best way to install.
Did you know that a true replacement window has a 3-1/4" frame. Some companies sell replacement
windows that are just new construction builder grade windows with a 2-3/4" frame. All they do is order
the window without a nail fin or cut the nail fin off so it can be installed as a replacement. Do you really
want to replace your builder grade windows with more builder grade windows? Educate yourself on the
differences and then you will enjoy positive, long term results from your investment in new windows.

We're proud of the AWARDS we've won. The big feather in our hat is the Better Business Bureau
Torch Award for 2013 for trust, integrity & performance. We have been on the Honor Roll with the
Tulsa BBB every year since joining. Then we have all the Angie's List Super Service Awards which are only
given to select companies in each area. We also have won several Tulsa People's A-list awards & a new

Why is ENERGY STAR rated windows so important?
Every ENERGY STAR window, door and skylight is independently certified to perform at
levels that meet or exceed energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Energy.
True "thermal windows" need to be ENERGY STAR rated.
If the NFRC (an independent testing facility) is not doing the testing, then you are relying on
the manufacturer's own tests to tell you the energy efficiency of the window. Keep in mind that
the entire window should be tested, not just the glass or IGU (insulated glass unit). Some
replacement window companies in Tulsa area try to tell you that it's all about the glass; however,
once you put a frame around that glass, if it's made of a highly conductive material, like metal, it
will completely change the energy efficiency of the glass. Always ask for "the entire window"
rating, not just the glass rating.
But how do you know which windows work in your climate or how to install them to
maximize your energy savings? Look for this ENERGY Star sticker which is on every window
that is independently tested.
Additionally, rebates from the government or utilities companies always require the official
ENERGY STAR label (and NFRC label). The example below is from a window we installed:
